Oil Hits New Records on Strong Demand
Wed Mar 16, 2005 10:31 PM ET

London's benchmark Brent crude futures hit a record $55 a barrel on Thursday as oil markets continued a relentless rally due to strong global demand and little by way of spare supply capacity.
Brent crude for May delivery on the International Petroleum Exchange (IPE) rose 12 cents in electronic trade to $55.

Earlier, U.S. light crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) traded to an all-time peak at $56.69 a barrel

it's getting pretty bad

It's going for about $2.25 a gallon now here in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  Impact on daily life?  Not yet.  Yes, it's annoying to see the price keep on going up and up, but hey, you have to drive to work, go buy groceries, run your errands.  Not much you can do about it.  Buses are just too inconvenient, and bikes are not practical for most people who commute.

I'm sure if the price stays at this level for much longer, or heaven forbid, goes even higher, we'll start to see inflation on everyday goods.  If that happens, I guess we will just have to buy more stuff that's made in china.  LOL ^^
