Hong Kong's visitor arrivals dropped to about 5.2 million in July, down 4.8 percent compared with the same month a year ago, and visitor arrivals from the Chinese mainland decreased by 5.5 percent year on year to about 4.16 million, Hong Kong Tourism Board said on Friday.

According to the statistics, visitor arrivals for the first half year reached around 35 million, up 13.9 percent from a year earlier. Each month for the first five months this year saw more than 5.5 million of visitor arrivals, while visitor arrivals in June dropped some 770,000 from that in May to about 5.1 million.

The statistics also showed that visitor arrivals from short-haul markets such as Singapore and South Korea, as well as from long-haul markets such as the United States and Canada all fell in July.

By August 28, over 30 countries and regions have issued travel warnings to Hong Kong.

Most travel agents in China are laughing heartily because the trouble in Hong Kong pushed more away and going into Shenzhen, instead.

Perhaps, Hong Kong should experience a long dought and learn an excellent lesson. So called DEMOCRACY bring regression to Hong Kong with pains that are self inflicting.

There is nothing more than SHEER STUPIDITY in the recess of the minds of so called leaders like Joshua Wang and others. To Wang, he has a brain that is fully damaged before arriving as refugee from Vietnam.

Only idiots look up to him as he is being a pawn of US in Hong Kong!

Great man forsee the future. Only idiots like Joshua Wang will self destroy. The interview with CNN appeared to doctored and filled with nonsenses!

That's just what walking streets such as Dongmen in Shenzhen need - more people ! You can barely inch past the crowds there as it is, so adding more tourists to this city will only lead to more terrible congestion. A wonderful tourist experience if you want to have the experience of being in an ant hill.

"We all know that a ROT can't be cured but to save the main body must be removed by surgery." Wonderful plan ! The mainland can be cut off and HK allowed to prosper on its own.
