We seldom see eye to eye but I must agree with you on this one!  The Chinese media is awash with cases of frauds, scams etc almost on a daily basis. Many Chinese fraudsters set up their operations overseas to defraud their compatriots back home, thinking it is safer, but they can't escape the long arm of the law, and are often caught and returned to China to face the music!

The Anglophones are creative in cyber fraudulence, the lastest internet scam termed virtual kidnapping also originates in Canada and UK, see, your folks do take the cake in grifting.
Believe it or not, it's true.

So how do you know that the criminals in this case are not Chinese ? There have been several cases of internet fraud being perpetrated by gangs in Taiwan, and as mentioned before it is very commonplace on the mainland. Chinese people are far more likely to defraud their own since they speak the same language and are familiar with the same social media sites.
