Seven Hong Kong Policeman are still being locked up.
Re the Occupy Central fiasco some four years ago...
An activist in the midst of the rioting thought it was fun to pour urine and faeces over a group of cops from an overhead bridge. The cops with the smell of urine all over their head and body thought otherwise. They chased and caught the thug, gave him a good beating.
Unfortunately a TV crew caught all this on tape.
The cops were committed, now still in jail.

The missing piece in this ongoing unrest in Hong Kong is the unwillingness of the police to risk their life, limbs and livelihood in tackling these rioting thugs.
The have had no backing from the ruling HK Governments, even less from the foreign leaning legal system.
The seven policemen in the heat of the long rioting day's moment lost the cool. They are severely punished, their pension rights taken away, no career to go back to when they are released, and seven ruined families awaiting them.

"Let HK sink", I believe is the message from the HK police.
We will do out police duty. Disperse the thugs from their unlawful road closure and illegal mass assembly,  but we will not physically tackling them.
Live TV, that might means more ruined police careers  and wrecked families.

Carrie Lam's Government have only themselves to blame for not giving the police their full support when the police force needed them most.
Lam can still make amend by asking the highest court in the city, the Beijing court, to pardon the jailed officers, return all their pension rights and restore their career prospect!
Yes, Beijing can exonerate the sentences of the jailed policemen.

You're a bit unfair here Kbay...

Lam should dismiss her useless No 2, Matthew Cheung. Then perhaps she may consider resigning herself!
.
This dummy Professor no common sense Matthew Cheung has infuriated the police union with his idiotic TV apology on behalf of the police "for their short comings" in handling the Yuen Long violence between the two opposing camps.
.
It was just a week prior to the Yuen Long incudence, when eleven policemen were brutally hospitalised by the thugs in black shirts. Now Cheung makes apology to them, and indirectly accusing the police of inefficiency.
It is no wonder many of the cops are considering working to rule with so little support from Lam and her stupid ministers.
