Umm, so millions of Chinese kids have grown up on Disney cartoons, the epitome of western cultural hegemony ? That doesn't say much about the value of the endless versions of "The Monkey King". How many black actors, token or otherwise, have ever featured in that show ?

  The name of this Chinese song could be The Love of Boatman or  纤夫的爱 , which is originally sung by two Chinese singers behaving like  two peasants in the music video of this old  song.  Worst yet, one of them is said to have been nicked after getting caught smoking weed.

Disney's attempt to stay politically-correct and in the mainstream is a trend to keep their brand relevant... it's the times.  Probably can expect Disney remaking all of their "cartoon classics" in this manner... ethnicity or gender of the month.  It doesn't matter how Hans Christian Andersen intended his character to be portrayed as he's dead.
