"Why does China not recognize Bishops, appointed by the Catholic Church, in Rome? "

With so many bishops charged with sex crimes against their fellowers perhaps bishops appointed by Rome are not safe for the Chinese?

They are not just buildings, they are places of worship, and many flock there to pray!  You are trying to belittle China's religious freedom!

And isn't it great that so many monks worshipping in the temples have been appointed by the Chinese government ! And many people do indeed flock to pay these same monks.

China doesn't even bother with such pretexts. Since China doesn't have religious freedom so it can't use this pretext to begin with.

If they are places of worship, why does China destroy them? Why does the PSB photograph worshippers who enter and/or leave? Why are foreign Christians who try to spread the word of the Bible arrested and deported? Why are Chinese Christians who try to spread the word of the Bible arrested and jailed? China's "Freedom of Religion" only exists within the walls of the church. Outside those walls, it is only as good as the paper it is written on. As a matter of fact, foreign teachers are only allowed to talk about religion in general terms in their classrooms, and only if a student asks a question about something like Easter, or Christmas. Foreign teachers are ordered to change the subject quickly, and/or explain that Christmas is about the exchanging of gifts, only.  They are warned NOT to talk about religion. Oh, yeah ... China has "Freedom of Religion", all right.
