I can understand Chinese pride. And American pride. But BOTH are wasting money on these weapons. Resolve the problems between the two and they can build a peaceful Northeast Asia and enjoy greater prosperity. Indeed, the combined power of China and the US can create global peace and reduce the other conflicts and stop the spread of weapons of mass destruction. A better world can emerge if the two countries are allied.
My problem is simple: I just know better than everyone-else!

I agree with you on this Ted. I would only add the following - add Russia and India to the group of allies. Compete actively with everyone on trade based on mutually reciprocal trade agreements. The prosperity around the world would reach fabulous levels and will be greater guarantor of peace than most armaments. But until that political and economic structure is in place, everyone needs more such weapons. It is whether the leaders now have the wisdom and will to avoid a costly arms race.

Nothing else is working for you? So now you want to play the race card? Well it's not working. The US is far more racially diverse than China will ever be.
