Change does take place!
Today, the issue may still be the same but the players may not be less smart.
The playing fields have more participants. Some may not abide by the rules less the law if any.
Come the powerful to decide. Harm may set in without warning at the next instant.
The rest is for history to write it.
Thank you!

""Harm may set in without warning at the next instant.""

That is the difference now. Before China was at a distinct disadvantage in this regard.
Now there is a more level playing field. There will be much more severe consequences
for any nation wishing to undermine China's self determination.
If foreigners couldn't do it then, there is even less reason to believe they can do it now.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

In the meantime, China National Tobacco Corp., a state monopoly that’s by far the biggest cigarette maker in the world, plans to list its international unit on the Hong Kong stock exchange even as pressure increases on the government to curb smoking.

An ever changing world is nothing new. Just that information gets across instantaneously with advanced telecommunication technology.
China is still far from able to step on that platform US has attained.
The world would take at least a few decades working on technology to match that of US!
Structure of US is UNIQUE! NO REPLICATE exists!
Only way is for SELF DESTRUCTION!
A new pattern over the horizon seems to be implemented by present White House master!

Please furnish information regarding China being behind the USA in telecommunications by 20 years.
I live in China and see people paying for practically everything using WeChat on the cellphones.
The same cannot be said for the USA.
China is neck and neck with the USA in telecommunications if not ahead of them.
Where is your practical experience?
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?
