"Meng is not being "held". She is free to move around Vancouver, .."

Still more free than the two Canadians being held.

The plot thickens ...

New reports ...

Seems like Reuters has done a little investigative journalism.

Canada has extradition treaties with 49 countries. We don't "play second fiddle" with anyone. Fo ...

Canada handed over the fugitives after refusing to do so for ages because it was finally brought to its senses, and was ashamed of itself for being a haven for criminals.

It's funny for Canada to expect China to be reciprocal all because it made up for its prior wrongdoings.
Believe it or not, it's true.

I didn't know a country could be ashamed.

WRT China, Canada never has to be ashamed.

They were sent to China after China had reassured Canada they will not face the death penalty if convicted.

Canada, which does not practice capital punishment, forbids the extradition of prisoners to countries where they may be executed.

Canada agreed to negotiate an extradition deal with China, according to a joint statement posted on the prime minister’s website. An extradition treaty has prompted criticism by human rights groups because of concerns about China’s lack of due process, use of the death penalty and torture.

According to the statement, Trudeau’s national security adviser, Daniel Jean, went to Beijing on Sept. 12 and agreed to start talks about an extradition treaty as part of a security dialogue.

“Extradition is certainly one of the things the Chinese have indicated they want to talk about,” Trudeau told a news conference at the United Nations Tuesday. “As everyone knows, Canada has very high standards in terms of extradition treaties in accordance with our values. But we’re happy to have a high-level security dialogue.”

I didn't know ...

Like you guys know what high standards really mean, actually applying double-standards is what Canada is good at.

Your big brother practices capital penalty, torture and violence within the US law enforcement system are everyday occurences, but you guys still have an extradition treaty with it. So you see your standards are a joke, dude.

Citing death penalty for protecting criminals is simply a laughable subterfuge, it means Canada is straining to shelfter felony perpetrators while playing fast and loose with culprits committing minor offenses. Could you see the irony in it? I bet you don't.

So pack it up, you make no senses at all.

Believe it or not, it's true.
