China overtook the United States as the world's biggest carbon dioxide polluter  in 2006, and has topped the list ever since. In 2012, the communist country pumped an estimated 9.8 billion tons of CO2 into the world's atmosphere from the burning of fossil fuels such as oil and coal.

China's greatest contribution on climate change? Put scrubbers on all their coal fired power plants.

You may know approximately half of the power generators in the US are powered by coal.
Believe it or not, it's true.

China already contributed a lot, first by keeping the nation in poverty during failed communism, and then by implementing one-child policy when the growth was allowed to start.

In terms of doing something to reduce human impact on climate change, China can do nothing else to come even close to those two (in)actions.

As far as climate goes, we now would be much worse off if either one of those had not happened.

So thank you China, I suppose.
