A Chinese fleet participates in the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) multinational naval exercises with U.S. warships in west Pacific Ocean, June 20, 2016.

The Chinese Foreign Minister on Wednesday blasted the U.S. for excluding China from a multinational military exercise to be held in June, noting that the decision was “imprudent and unconstructive.”

“Such a decision will not help to enhance mutual understanding and trust between the U.S. and China, which are both world powers. The two nations can definitely cooperate regarding maritime security,” said Wang Yi, State Councilor and Chinese Foreign Minister, at a press conference with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo after their meeting in Washington, D.C.

Wang’s remarks come after the U.S. withdrew an invitation to China to join the world’s largest international maritime warfare exercises. According to CNN, the decision was made by U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis in coordination with the White House, which comes just days after China’s Air Force landed their advanced H-6K strategic bomber on an island in the South China Sea for the first time.

This would have marked China’s third consecutive participation in the drill, as the country had already accepted the invitation from the U.S. in January.

Blowing hot and cold, U.S. accusations of China “militarizing the South China Sea” have irritated the country, with Wang noting that it’s China’s legitimate right to construct its own islands.

“The U.S. has built military facilities in Hawaii and Guam. Compared to the U.S., China’s military deployment is to a much lesser scale, thus there is no need to hype up [China’s South China Sea movements],” Wang added.

Due to the Obama Administration’s efforts to stabilize Sino-U.S. military ties, China had already been included in the Rim of the Pacific naval exercises twice, in 2014 and 2016 respectively.

According to experts, China’s former participation in the naval exercises was a milestone for Sino-U.S, relations, as the U.S. National Defense Authorization Act for the Fiscal Year 2000 prohibits advanced combined-arms and joint combat operations between the two nations, in fear that such cooperation may create a national security risk due to inappropriate exposure.

In 2016, China sent five vessels and over 1,000 personnel to join the drill. (From People's Daily Online)

Too bad so sad

If China didn't illegal annex the South China, it would be a different story. Even the international courts ruled against the annexation. So ask Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Brunei and Malaysia what they think about the annexation.

From a security point of view. Any competent adversary at RIMPAC can gather useful acoustic signatures and other electronic intelligence. In addition, there are human intelligence opportunities, and close observation of ships, hardware, tactics and procedures, all offer intelligence advantages. So why should the US tip its hat? Especially when China lied and said they weren't militarizing the South China Sea after they annexed it.

Heaps of bullshits @Boston101 ! What belongs to China is China's assets, full-stop!

There was / is never a need for China to lie on the matter or issue about Chinese rights over its own territorial assets. Whereas, this UncleTrump's US Admin words aren't deeds but seemingly big bullying lies. See, how it is dismantling the DPRK-US meeting after Mr Kim - the Lion Heart blew up its missiles and nuke test sites! In total disrespect, the US Admin sinfully and shamefully cited "Libya Model" against DPRK over Mr Kim several times. That "Libya-Model" was such a dirty, sinful, shameful and cruel US-led NATO trick that led to be believed "No Nuke Guarantees or Assures Peace" which however evilly rendered the murder of the Libyan president Gad....fi on the streets as well as the destruction of the entire Libyan regime / nation. The credibility of the USA has since dropped below ZERO - how to be great again?? Sadly, till now the Libyan PEOPLE are still fighting and killing each other while US Military folks are sitting there laughing and cheering on its "Libyan Model"; that is, serving Mr KIM a punishing warning !

China needs NOT cry NOR be concerned over US's "deinvitation" of its engineered Western Pacific exercises ! The ongoing military exercises with the South Korean military regime are deafening enough right in front of DPRK's doorsteps as well as on China's front yard. Hoping one day, there will be powers deafeningly prowling along the US coasts with major military drills. Then, let's see if that may prop up a WW3 by the USA !

TRUST no more of the US words for its words are plainly and disastrously empty. Evil war engineering has become US's greatest asset in this century - a US's IP that is NOT worth replicating in this world. Its biblical "fires and furies" beaconing calls were and are happening as seen in those cyclones and earthquakes rumbling furiously and firing with endless lava flows / explosions in front of our eyeballs.

China needs to grow with sustainable world partners without relying upon the USA till one day, when and if, a new visionary head of the USA is born. Till then, prepare and be ready for all scenarios to happen!

Bullshitting will NOT help you, @manoj10 ! Get updated .... :

There are more than 129 nations worldwide working progressively with China in the latter's initiated B&R and another group consisting of 86 world participating funding partners in AIIB, a vehicle which is working in conjunction with B&R projects worldwide. Whereas, the USA's hard & tough power mentality is proving to be decades old bullying technique as cold as my granny's 200 years old set of teeth : will never able to make "America Great Again" along this dirty old path, so sorry UncleTrump !

If the tables were turned and China had military bases in Cuba, Mexico, and Venezuela for the
past half century and the US started building islands in the Gulf of Mexico neither the US nor
the rest of the world would care if China complained.
The US was invited into South Korea and Japan like an armed robber invites himself into a
house at the point of a gun.
China can still observe the bumbling war games of the west from a distance.
China is playing the US like Kim has been for the past few months.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

How wonderfully childish of China's leaders. Complaining because they were not invited to play in the neighbourhood street-hockey game. Waaaahhhhh!! RIMPAC is by invitation, not by right.

Oh, and Mr. 12dream ... NK did not destroy any of its missiles, and the reason they blew up the test site was because it was unsafe, not because it was a "show of good faith". Their last nuclear test was the straw that broke the camel's back, causing part of the internal structure of the mountain to collapse, making it unusable.
Stupid people are like Glowsticks. You want to snap them in half and shake the crap out of them until they see the light.
I love sarcasm. It's like punching someone in the head ... only with words
