In China, it is traditional custom to send money or Hongbao as the wedding gift for the new couples. However, how much money people especially young people should send to their friends  in the wedding ceremony has become a puzzle, as not all young men could afford large amount of money in some cases. So, here comes the question: Is it necessary to take money as the wedding gift in China?

How about making a maximum amount of 300  rmb?
if you want something in life get off your backside, and do it yourself!! don't rely on others to do it for you

I have problem posting here.

All these giving of gifts for the simplest excuse should be stopped because it is making life miserable for the poor. The poor cannot afford to keep up this lifestyle so exclude themselves from the social circle and therefore have less friends.

This is a custom that has to change for the sake of China. Some people borrow money to keep with this lifestyle and become heavily in dept just for the sake of "face". Is this necessary? I think that is stupid.

People should learn how to live simply even though circumstances have improved because unnecessary wants lead to greed and materialism. That is a disaster for the country. It is already clear that China is in this web of materialism.

ask us? it depends on your relationship with the bride and groom. give within your means. if you don't have money to give, are they going to blame you? what's the culture nowadays? just give what you can afford, that's it.
