Two powerful earthquakes have struck China, the first in the southwestern Sichuan province on Tuesday evening, and the second this morning in the northwestern Xinjiang province. The Sichuan quake, measuring 7.0 in magnitude, struck around 9.20pm and killed at least nine people – including five tourists – with over 100 injured. This morning’s quake, which was felt at 7.27am local time was measured as a 6.6 magnitude quake. Our deepest condolences and sympathy to everyone affected by the earthquakes. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
