Photographer Matt Emmett's career certainly isn't about to go down the drain any time soon - as his incredible picture of the East London Water Works Company has just picked up first prize in a prestigious photography competition.
His picture of a covered 19th-century reservoir in London's Finsbury Park 'captured the imagination of the delegates' at the World Architecture Festival in Berlin, where the prizes for the Arcaid Images Architectural Photography Awards were handed out at a recent ceremony.
The image by Mr Emmett, from Reading, Berkshire, was up against extremely stiff competition.
Judge Ulrich Muller, Architect and Director at Architektur Galerie Berlin, commented: 'The breadth of architectural photography presented to us was amazing. With their own distinctive view the photographers opened our eyes for a second time and helped us to discover things we hadn't previously appreciated. I found this extremely enriching.'
The entries were judged on 'composition, use of scale and the photographer's sensitivity to atmosphere and sense of place'.
Here MailOnline Travel showcases the winning image along with some of the other stunning entries by some of the world's best professional architectural photographers, from a tower in the mist in Shanghai to a glowing stadium shot from high above.
