"behind a wall in one outlandish proposition."

Here the writer casts aspersions on Trump's call for a wall on the southern US border with Mexico to protect against illegal immigrants and terrorists from entering the country. Why this is "outlandish" is a mystery the writer neglects to explain.

Does the writer believe the US should continue to allow illegal immigrants and terrorists to enter the country without adequate border protection? Does China not strictly protect her borders from illegal entry, and if such measures proved inadequate, does anyone doubt China would take whatever steps were necessary to protect her borders? Why then is it "outlandish" for the US to do so?

Such a sentiment, coming from a writer whose country is perhaps most famous in history for "The Great Wall of China", is ironic to say the least.
