China is entitled to be physical against all kinds of aggressors within her territorial seas, which duh is called the right of "Self-Defense" which is guaranteed by the UN Charter.  It is also entitled to physically stop any country or individual from exploiting her EEZ's without her permission, which is duh, called "international rule of law" as spelled out in UNCLOS.  Being physical against aggression or theft is not aggressiveness, it is the legitimate exercise of sovereignty by any country, without which it would be overrun and ruled by force by others instead.

American military moves to contain China have become more robust and overt in recent months.

"These moves include: support for Japan’s militarisation; the stationing of US naval and air forces in the Philippines; aggressive naval patrolling in the South China Sea; ever closer defence cooperation with and supplies to India; pre-positioning of US military equipment and supplies in Vietnam; joint naval and military exercises with Japan, South Korea, Australia and India; an agreement with South Korea to station the sophisticated THAAD anti-missile system there; ostensibly to counter North Korea’s missile threat, but which would also enable the US to partially neutralise China’s long-range missile capabilities; and in the context of China’s assertion of its claims in the South China Sea, the hawkish, half-Japanese head of the US Pacific Command has reportedly told his troops to be ready “to fight tonight”.

It's simply inevitable that China and the US will be the two great powers who will pacify the world. So, even if it isn't perfect, lets just get it over with so we can be united in one government, maintain our world population (to 2 to 3 billion westernized middle-class using Chinese and English as the 2 practical languages), raise our living-standards, and prepare to colonize other solar systems.
