Haha, you are too frank, but I agree with you, and he is not the only one falling flat on pronunciation of Chinese names.  I prefer not to mention names though, got to give them some 'face'!
And the Chinese broadcasters are no better; they often make mistakes pronouncing foreign names in English. For instance we often hear the country 'Brunei' mispronounced like the hanyu pinyin pronounciation of 'nei' as in 'guonei'!  That is unacceptable from any broadcaster!

Perhaps he has good 'guanxi'?

Try the reporters from the far regions away from big cities, they tend to be the best for mispronunciation.
