Interestingly Stalin did not take kindly to Esperanto speakers once he'd gotten it into his head that "Esperanto is the language of spies". Hitler had some pretty unkind words for Esperanto in Mein Kampf as the language the Jews intended to use to communicate with their slaves once they took over the world.
