BTW Have a close look at the word "papyrus". Doesn't that look a teensy, weensy bit like "paper" ? So ancient Egypt and other regions in the Mediterranean have been using papyrus / paper products for a few millennia before the bogrolls made from bamboo made their way westwards along the silk road.
