Being a soldier means being part of a team. There is no "I" in team. You must be physically fit at all times, ready to do your part to support your team in a combat situation. Soldiers do many things that civilians would not dream of doing. If you told a civilian that he had to do a 20-km forced march in less than 2 1/2 hours, he'd probably tell you to get stuffed. A soldier must be able to carry twice his own weight, if necessary. A soldier must be able to rescue a downed brother in the middle of a firefight ... quickly and efficiently ... all the while still being able to unload rounds in the direction of the enemy.

An overweight soldier is a detriment to his team. He cannot carry his share of the load, and only serves to slow his team down. an overweight soldier can NOT do his job effectively or efficiently. An overweight soldier can easily get the rest of his team killed, because he slows them down. A fighting force is only as effective as its slowest man.

It doesn't matter what your job is. You could be an infantryman, or a cook, or even a postal clerk. Those jobs (except the first) don't matter. You are a fighting soldier FIRST. Cook and postal clerk come second.

Being a soldier means being in top physical shape, being able to attain peak performance, whether on a battlefield, or performing Aid to Civilian Powers duties.

If you are overweight, then promotion to a higher rank should be suspended until you are back in, and are able to maintain peak performance.
Stupid people are like Glowsticks. You want to snap them in half and shake the crap out of them until they see the light.
I love sarcasm. It's like punching someone in the head ... only with words
