Contrary to what the western media portrays as Chinese censorship of Putin giving up his coat to help Mrs. Xi escape the bitter cold of the outdoors, the Chinese people relish such gestures of gentlemanliness and chivalry, that Russians are famous for.
It is absurd to even think that Putin is making a pass on the wife of his host and best friend. Rather, Putin is showing true appreciation of Chinese culture by acting like "family" in his attentiveness to details, especially details of whether or not others are comfortable or in need of their help.
Putin's gesture will be long remembered by the Chinese people as the mark of a true gentleman who cares as much about his host and hostess, as they care about him.
The barbarians who laughed and jeered the loudest show their total lack of culture and upbringing. Russian ballet and Russian ballroom dancing has a character that most other countries find it hard to imitate, and part of that character is the way their gents show their respect and care for their ladies. Putin comes from a long line of great Russian mensches. His spontaneous gesture of giving up his coat is worth more than a thousand words of pledging friendship to China. It shows this gentleman regards his Chinese hosts as family, and as true friends.
The Curator of the Chinese National Museum should ask Putin if he would donate his coat to the museum, to teach the future generations of Russians and Chinese that they are not just fair day friends, but true friends in need.
