History rarely moves in ways simple enough to be wholly comprehensible when the events take place. What observers and commentators make of what is happening in Hong Kong is not, in any complete sense, what history will eventually make of it.

So the question becomes what is to be concluded about Hong Kong right now, in the unfocused, semi-darkness of the moment?

Some observers view the struggle o ...

From the observation of the way it is handle it is apparent than Beijing has indeed give much concession to the terrirtory. However all the goodwill gestures has be taken for granted and the effect is with the concession the protesters deem that opportunity to demand for more even with the judicially there. There should be no pre-bargain or concession and Beijing should set a deadline as it seem that those lawmakers there are draging their feet.

Seriously, it is time for Beijing to think about the reliance in a place that has a different mindset and set upon to not get what they want by protesting, crippling the economy and a nest for the west to camp in to bad mouth China right inside China territoral. If China seed to their demand now, the next thing they will ask for is self governing and perhap later the referendum for independence. Right now is they think Hong Kong has that bargaining power to ask for more. Put a full stop to these nonsence otherwise the music will continue.

They never realise that geo-politic led them to where they are when they are under the British administration as Hong Kong is the only place that has a western influence till 1997. The terrority manage to gain that status because of China and Hong Kong need China more to maintain its present position. With the opening of Shanghai and other Free Trade zones and looking at the present commerce regulations, these areas will have no problem to replace the terrority. The only thing right now is the abritation laws that need to be fine tune to abide to Chinese Law and international standard code of practice and they will be on the way

Again, some mental defect had ignored my posting below:

Interesting. Civil protests against racist murders of people of color in Ferguson and other parts of the US did not seem to persuade Washington to call for government-people discussions, either at some universities or even in some local town hall. Instead, there'd been more reports of killings of citizens by militarized police forces as well as a suggestion by Ferguson authorities that a no-fly zone be established, taken to mean that journalists could no longer take pictures of mass protests from helicopters.

Question: Will the NYT or Washington Post print articles by Chinese commentators on how to solve such deadly undemocratic people-authorities encounters in the US, just as the Chinese media like CD seem willing to publish this article by Tom Plate?
