Some campuses are safe. USC is not one of them.
Just remember, the U.S. is one gun crazy nation and  ...

People outside of China don't agree with China's politics, but they should not take it out on Chinese students.  Don't take it out on the future leaders of China.  Violence never solves anything.

A 3 man gang attack on a lone individual resulting in ones death is not an accident, is just blantant cold blooded murder. No doubt when and if the culprits are apprehended  they will cry mama, and sing the sad stories of how a robbery or whatever went wrong. Not an accident, just murder.

CA is full of welfare sucking minority scumbags and gang trash. Asian students, Chinese in particular are targeted by these scum because they make a good payday. The stereotype is that they or their parents are rich. Also you can go to any CA University parking lot to judge the Asian student population. Just count the number of BMW's, Mercedes, Audi and Land Rover vehicles. The Asian students stand out. Everyone has an iPhone, Rolex watch, Gucci shoes, etc. They wear only top of line fashion as well. You will be hard pressed to find a Chinese person in Old Navy. Abercrombie is about as low as they will go.

This is why Chinese students make easy targets. Also they tend not to fight back and will not even step in to help a person another. They will just stand there and watch it happen.

This post may sound critical, but it's not. I'm simply answering why Chinese or any Asians make an easy target for the scumbags.

My suggestion? Learn to defend yourselves and each other. So long as you remain a non resistant target, you will forever be a target. Also never walk alone on or off campus at night regardless of if you are a guy or girl. Carry some kind of defense item. A knife, can of pepper spray or a stun gun.

Oh and very, very important. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. Put the freaking phone away and keep your focus on your environment. Odds are high that every victim was walking and texting instead of paying attention. There is nothing that important on your phone that cannot wait until you get where you are going.

Never, never, NEVER--and this applies to everyone--go out walking alone at 12:45 am--it is not safe. I think foreign students really need to understand that when they come to America.

As usual, you chose to throw in additions.  There was NO gun involved.

During the LA  Riots, there was no area safe, these 'thugs' went on foot from block to block. They even destroyed their own neighborhoods and businesses in their own neighborhood far worse than anywhere else in LA.

Regardless, they will be apprehended, no matter what they cry, they deserve the most harsh penalty allowed (and then some).  Thugs of any kind have no place in any society.
