I don't know why some people have such negative feelings when discussing Muslim countries: I hav ...

You don't know why?

You are male.  You are not asked to lower your status after entering their country.  You are not subjected to norms that are offensive to your being.

I would never in a million years visit a muslim country.   Its too much to ask to follow their culture, so best not to go there to begin with.

I remember when egypt used to be a tourist destination.  As a teenager I dreamed of going to egypt to see the pyramids.  Who does this now?  Its such a hostile place and extremely dangerous if you are female.

As long as no one forces you, what's the problem ?

There is no problem.

I agree with you.  If you can't be polite or respect the culture of your host - don't go there.

There are some things that are just too unnacceptable (like wearing a headscarf).

To each his own.

I find it demoralizing.

Its my culture.  When you cover something up its because of shame.

I don't want to feel shame that I am female.
