Share Virgin Atlantic looks to the future .
2017-7-28 12:40
Sir Richard Branson is a role model entrepreneur and innovator and I have enjoyed reading his autobiographies and I am looking forward to his latest one when I am back in London mid August. He adds great value to the Virgin Brand. Yet he has passed the traditional retirement age in the UK though that means nothing these days and he shows no signs of slowing down. However it makes sense to secure the future investment in Virgin Atlantic which is one part of the Virgin Group. In the past Virgin At ...

Share SFO visit - special sights
2015-1-26 08:34
I promised a visual tour of my Downtown San Francisco and Bay Area visit. So here are 25 of my photos and some explanation. The name card of SFO This is the Golden Gate Bridge. By an amazing coincidence, the weekend I was there, the bridge was closed - that just never happens, but it was a one-off for the authorities to deal with "the suicide lane". Rush hour traffic is heavy into SFO from the North in mornings and in evenings heavy the other way out over the bridge. Thus they switch traf ...

Share International Cuisine in London
2014-8-24 15:25
Hi all. Here is the last of the posts that I promised from London. I am back in China now. Warning - You might feel hungry by the end of it. London has an incredible variety of international food - just in case some folks do not want to eat English food or the global fast food which I am not covering here - sorry McDonalds, KFC etc. One thing I noticed, living and studying here, is that London has a huge variety of Asian food - not just Chinese and Indian, but from other "Indian food-st ...

Share Inside London's V and A Museum
2014-8-21 06:53
Hi all. In keeping with my other from London blogs, I am focusing on a few insights not so readily obtained on the web. London has many wonderful museums and the big ones are usually free to enter. Many are in iconic buildings which make great photos. This includes the British Museum, the National Gallery, the Natural History Museum, the Tate Britain, the Tate Modern among others. I'll leave you to find these charms of London but I will focus on a more in depth look at one other famous Museum, ...

Share London - Canal Boat Ride
2014-8-16 19:22
Hi all This is something special to consider if visiting London. Best if combined with a dinner on the boat - I did this with my colleagues on Friday just gone. Some nice pictures. I don't focus on the food but it was, for me, Vegetable soup, roast lamb, veg, roast potatoes, strawberries and cream..and champagne, and coffee. The journey began at Camden Lock as photo below. A lock allows control of water by holding some back. A canal boat goes into the lock, the gates are close ...

Share London - The British Pub
2014-8-9 07:07
The British Pub plays an important role in society. There are two long running TV Soap Operas centered around pubs. The Rovers Return in Salford, near Manchester, features in Coronation Street and the Old Vic, in East London, features in Eastenders. The pub is not just place to get a drink but more of a social centre where locals go most nights and have their favourite tables to meet with friends The Marlborough Arms was my local pub when I both lived and worked in Bloomsbury.&nbs ...

Share London - British Food
2014-8-6 22:20
Hi again. We know that London is famous for its international cuisine. Some people say that is very good because who wants to eat British food! Actually, our food is not that bad. We include Indian, Nepalese and similar as the chefs came here long ago. A survey shows that the most popular dish in Britain eaten outside the home (thus ordered in a restaurant) is Chicken Tikka Masala. We have plenty of international restaurants, but I will save those for another post. First the British ...

Share London - my local area
2014-8-3 22:49
Hi all. Greetings from London. The first post in this series will not show the famous sites of London. They will come later. First I want to introduce my local area where I have lived. This is in West London, in one of the 32 London Boroughs - The Borough of Ealing. I know we welcome posts from community members' home towns but often they show essentially the famous sites, not the street where they lived, the local stores, shopping center, parks and so on. So here is the more personal post ...

Share (Part 2: 30 places I have visited
2014-8-2 01:45
Hi again. We finished the first 15 in Istanbul, Turkey and I mentioned the nice custom of offering a free glass of Turkish Tea when you enter many stores. When in Beijing last week before leaving for Shanghai and London, I had tea in my favorite Turkish restaurant in Beijing's Sanlitun. Here's a photo.. I got THREE free refills this time! Kuala Lumpur Alphabetically after Istanbul, my next city visited is Kuala Lumpur (KL), the capital of Malaysia. In the news for ...
