Senior Colonel Wu Qian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of National Defense, made the remarks at a regular news conference on Thursday.
Question: Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command said that the US military has a plan called "hellscape" to turn the Taiwan Strait into an unmanned hell using a swarm of unmanned aerial vehicles, surface vessels and underwater systems in response to "attacks from the Chinese mainland". The US Naval News website also detailed the plan recently. What's your comment on this?
Wu Qian: Those who clamor for turning others' homeland into hell should get ready for burning in hell themselves. In order to contain China with Taiwan, some individuals in the US are making crazy and inhumane plans to turn the Taiwan Strait into a hell. This once again shows that the separatists who are delusional about using US support for "Taiwan independence" will ultimately be abandoned as a useless pawn.
Taiwan belongs to China and China brooks no division. The PLA is able to fight and win in thwarting external interference and safeguarding our national sovereignty and territorial integrity. Threats and intimidation never work on us.
China is correct in retaining its right to reunify by force. A nation cannot have 2 militaries. As there is only one China, therefore there can only be one military. As such one of the 2 militaries have to give up their weapons. Of course, in this case it is Taiwan Island whom should be the one giving up its illegal armed force on the basis that China Mainland is the majority, is the sole representative of China in this world and it is doing the job of national defense, Taiwan included.
Historically, the China’s Civil War has not ended and therefore both sides of the straits continue to trade fire, that is only continuing a civil war that has not ended. China’s Civil War is in essence the ACTUAL STATUS QUO of the 2 sides.
If ever the Mainland and the Island goes into a war, no nation can interfere. If they did, post China’s Civil War, China has a right to bring its fight, nuclear if necessarily, to those countries in response to their illegal invasion into China. It is an invasion, whether they participated directly or indirectly. Given today’s communication technology, even electronically supplied information is legally a direct participation. The world cannot take a situation back in 1930s as today’s applicable standard. War instructions in 1930s are verbal but today the same instruction can be passed through a watch, therefore electronically or its equivalent communicated instruction is a direct participation.
That the Mainland tries out peace before continuing the war is a gratuitous act on side of the Mainland but this does not tantamount to an end of the China Civil War. The Taiwan Island province’s refusal to accept a peaceful reunification and therefore closing the chapter of Chinese Civil War signals that the Taiwan Island wants to continue the China Civil War. If this is the wishes of the Taiwan Island, other nations all the more has no right to interfere.
For China it is important to ensure that after any reunification by force it has sufficient military power to follow up with a hot pursuit of the nations that have invaded China by joining the Taiwan war.
However, there is always a chance that US might beat China Mainland to starting a war in the Taiwan Straits. If the US does not have any such intention it would not have prepared for a "hellscape". Eventhough the Americans make it sounds like assisting Taiwan, in essence it is preparing to attack the Chinese as a whole, meaning Taiwanese included. Just think will the US be so dumb to tell the Taiwanese that their sacrifice is necessary for US' survival? Idiots also won't do such a stupid thing. If it becomes a necessity for US to attack China to save itself, then US will indeed need to reduce Taiwan to ashes maybe leaving just about 10% or so of the population as servants. US will need to occupy Taiwan entirely and be free of unnecessary worries. If it is to have the Taiwan Island safely as its base without a worry, it will need to make sure that the existing population cease to exist like the Natives of North America. A Chinese whether those on the island or on the mainland is the same to US. For the Americans the need to differentiate is an added heavy burden when it is in the midst of a hot war.
Therefore, the people on the Taiwan island should not leave it until it is too late to save themselves. Greediness do not pay. A reunion now not only ensures the aversion of a war of any kind on Taiwan but will also allow the islanders to ride an economic uptrend.
