The lander carrying China's first Mars rover has touched down on the Red Planet, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) confirmed on Saturday morning.

It landed on a pre-selected landing zone in the southern part of an icy area of the planet known as Utopia Planitia at 7:18 a.m., the scientific research team confirmed with the signal sent back by the rover, the first landing on an exoplanet ever by a Chinese vehicle.

7 seconds? It's a pity. Congrats on China's successful Mars landing! I wish the continued success on the Mars program!

Thanks Cecil,

My local HK TV managed some 7 seconds to squeeze in the successful rover landing.

With uncle Sam's latest touchdown, I truly fell asleep during their endless time slot.

Something is deeply rotten within this outfit.
