The sight on CCTV, of folks discarding fresh milk into the drain in the hope of finding bottle caps with the right QR code which would win them prizes, is so sickening! The drinks company came up with a disgusting promotion, encouraging consumers to buy bottles of milk, more for the caps than for the milk!
With the recent Food Wastage Law, the Authority must take action against the company for food wastage!
To avoid food wastage at the production stage, farmers mut be advised on when to plant and how uch to plant because there have been reported instances of farmers' crops gone to waste due to over-production and poor market conditions. For instances, there was a time when apples were left to rot on trees and dropped off trees covering the ground because of glut and poor prices, such that merchants didn't go to buy them; what a waste! In a good year, farmers rushed in to plant huge acreage of crops but when time come to harvest, demand dropped off and there were few buyers!
A bakery in Jiangsu was given order to correct under the Food Wastage Law, for discarding fresh croissant not baked to right shape. Inspectors found discarded food in waste bin were fresh and edible after public complaint. Who says the law is ineffective? It sure has plenty of teeth!
It is said in china there are at least 10 percents of grains wasted due to the poor storage condition after harvesting season. Beside the roadside not far away from my home-village,piles of wheat or corn are in the open air what that businessman has bought from the local farmers. He just covers a big sheet of plastic-paper over the ‘hill’ to deal with raining! He has run the business in that way for years. I do wish a large workshop would be built to save more grains.
Haha, no cat was around, it all went down the drain, washed away, sheer wastage!! The law on wastage MUST be strictly enforced. Human greed is hard to explain; those consumers who squatted by the drain peeling of the bottle caps and pouring the contents into the drain, were looking for that prize QR code, not the milk!
