Such a move, in an attempt to turn a large number of Hong Kong people into second-class British citizens, has completely changed the original BNO nature agreed between the Chinese and British sides, said a spokesperson.

China will no longer recognize the so-called British National Overseas (BNO) passport as a travel document and ID document from Jan. 31, and reserves the right to take further actions, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian told a regular news briefing Friday.

The decision was made after the British government announced that it will begin accepting citizenship applications for BNO-eligible Hong Kong residents starting from Sunday.

Ignoring the fact that Hong Kong has been returned to China for 24 years and China's solemn position, the British side blatantly violated its commitment and insisted on issuing the so-called "tailored policy" for Hong Kong residents with BNO passports to stay and naturalize in Britain, and has repeatedly expanded the scope of application, Zhao said.

He pointed out that such a move, in an attempt to turn a large number of Hong Kong people into second-class British citizens, has completely changed the original BNO nature agreed between the Chinese and British sides.

"This has seriously violated China's sovereignty, grossly interfered with Hong Kong affairs and China's internal affairs, and seriously breached international law and the basic norms governing international relations," Zhao said, expressing China's strong indignation and firm opposition to the British side's move. None of the rich and successful ones should be allowed back either. Too much loss of face for HK'ers.

BNO is for those who will debase themselves in UK!

No problem! Please let them go faster than expected but allow none of them including their offsprings to return in state of despair and poverty from UK.

That Law you mention should apply to Hong Kong as well, because it is part of China,  but unfortunately HKers are still enjoying dual citizenship!   Many HKers hold Ausise, Canadian citizenship, etc as well as HK citizenship, enjoying all the benefits of all these countries, without any loyalty to Hong Kong!   This anomaly must be corrected!

I'm sure the British people are ready to open their doors to a million British loyalist HKer's in the time of covid, high unemployment and racism.

Answer: China does not recognize dual nationality. The Article 3 of China Nationality Law holds that the country will not admit the dual nationality of a Chinese citizen. Moreover, the Article 9 of that law declares that as soon as a Chinese takes a foreign citizenship, he will automatically lose his Chinese citizenship.

Hong Kong is becoming sort of like a rich spoiled child who only cares about oneself. This is highly unacceptable, need to be admonished.

Moreover, Hong Kong in the past prospered a great deal because of China, since mainland China historically was blocked by the Colonialist Anglo West, and could not export their products directly to outside world under Western influence; thus Hong Kong came in and basically acted as a middle man, relabeling products from China and taking commission on it.

May I suggest sending some of them over to a place like Australia, which is 1000 times larger than Hong Kong where people live like sardines in a can. Speaking of Australia, may I ask why is this vast resourceful Continent in Asia-Pacific, only a few hundred miles away from South-East Asia had no Asian-Pacific Islanders in that vast land originally, historically inhabiting when Anglo British, some 10,000 miles away England, sailed half the world away, and looted in late 18th century?

This doesn't make sense, since Asian-Pacific Islanders originally and historically inhabiting and residing in Pacific such as Guam, Tonga, New Zealand, Tahiti, Fiji and Hawaii.

Speaking of New Zealand, why did these same Anglo pirates, sailed halfway around the world and looted in the late 18th century? Why didn't they occupy beautiful fertile Iceland, right above them just a short distance away, with hardly any people there, even today?

Like I said, Australia, a giant resourceful Continent in Asia Pacific region with a mere 26 million population, which is 1000 times larger than Hong Kong where 6 million people live like sardines in a can, can easily take in these folks.
