Comedian Stephen Chow Sing-chi's (周星驰) former girlfriend is suing him for HK$70 million - the amount she claims he owes her in commissions on the expected sale of a luxury Peak house.
However, the movie star said such promise is only lover's honeyed words and has no force of law.
According to the movie star's ex-girl friend, she and Chow were both lovers and business partners. For years, Chow benefited from the financial skills and advice of Alice Yu Man-fung, according to a writ filed with the High Court on Monday. In return, he paid her a salary plus millions of dollars in commissions.
What do you think? Should sweetwords of promise from lovers bear legal effect?
