113-year-old woman marries 70-year-old in Xinjiang

A 113-year-old Chinese woman proved that age is just a number and married a man 43 years younger than her. After the marriage, the woman,Azatihan Sawuti, said she did not feel old or uncomfortable marrying a man of 70.

The wedding came after a six-month love affair that began on their first meeting at an old age home in Bachu County of China's Xinjiang Autonomous Region last December. Azatihan, and her 70-year old partner Aimti Ahemti havebeen living together since then.

"We are very happy together. I don't care she is much older than me,"the groom said when asked about their age difference. Explaining his reason forthe attraction, he said, "She takes good care of me and gives me her portion of meat during meals".

Looking sturdy and much younger than their real age in photographs circulatedin the Chinese media, the couple had a traditional marriage in Xinjiang province in western China.

Aimti told reporters that the bride had initially turned down his marriage proposal as she felt ashamed about getting married at an old age. He persistedand finally persuaded her to marry him.
