It was China on loan. Don't think Georgie's preference was common knowledge back then. Sir Elton's is and that didn't get him banned from playing China. Although his shout out to Ai Weiwei prolly won't get him back in

No, the New Territories were on loan HK Island was not.

I doubt that the average person in China knew about G M's ways, it just wasn't talked about back then  in China.

If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?
