Now that daily interceptions are becoming the norm in the busy skies above the East China Sea, some rules of decorum are needed, even if the higher ups refuse to let your Chinese escorts know what you are up to, like cruising for beautiful Chinese mermaids on Diaoyu islands, looking for an island with a rest room because the toilet onboard is overflowing, or simply because it is fun to burn taxpayer money on a bright beautiful day.

When you hear the first crackling voice of a Chinese pilot, don't get upset when you hear, "Hey, you!"  It really means, "Hello!"

But don't try to be overly courteous and say very slowly, "gooooduhmaaarneeeng!", because it may sound like "gaaanimaaaniang", meaning, "fck your mom and wife."  But a curt, "good day", won't work either, because it comes across like a shot over the bow, like "gooodough" (meaning "bone head").

So, because your higher ups refuse absolutely to reveal the sensitive and secret mission you are on, does not mean that the problem is all technical and for the governments to sort out.  Saying something, or saying nothing, can spell the difference between having a good day for all, or fighting a bone head all the way.
