China has been under fire by the Western media for "meager" aid to the typhoon devastated Philippines, especially with the United States sending an aircraft carrier and Japan ramping up aid. China's government has promised $100,000 in aid to Mania, along with another $200,000 through the Chinese Red Cross- far less than pledged by other economic heavyweights, said the reports.

China is the second largest economy, but it dones’t mean China has to donate the second largest amount of aid to Philippine. US sent its troops to Philippine because Philippine is the US’ ally. And China has offered its aid in time. No one gets to blame in China. Why single out China on how much it donates? When Iran had earthquake, did you report on how much Western countries donated to Iran? When China had earthquake, did you report on some countries’ meager aid to China? 1.jpg

The USA and the Catholic church own the Philippines.
The Catholic church stole so much gold during the western imperialist crusades over the past 500 years
they could pay for all the damage with the gold coins lost under the sofa cushions in the Vatican.
Let them break loose with a little bit of that stolen treasure.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

China taught Japan a lot things- writing system, architecture, attire, tea arts, etc. And then Japan invaded into China, killing, bombing China.

Philipines killed Chinese from Hong Kong, and tries to steal Chinese island. So we should not help it.

Don't forget Philipines and the US did military exercise against China.

Didn't some Chinese complain about the meager donation from the US after the 2008 quake,?

Politics should be put aside for now. Compassion and generosity (or lack of it) for suffering people in times of dire need shows one's true human colors.  Those who made idiotic statements that this is retribution for the Philippines for standing up against China are in the same bed with Sharon Stone's karma comment.

China just missed an opportunity to mend fences. Perhaps there were reasons not apparent to the general public. But then, being neighbors there should be more compassion. Read also that Hong Kong is not extending their sanction deadline to the Philippines for the still unresolved hostage killing in Manila in 2012.

To neutral viewers, seems the giant is taking a hard stance against a neighbor who is weaker and in dire need now. Even if Philippine sis at fault ( and I am not saying that anyone is) the world is watching.

Going back to 1997 massacre of Chinese Indonesians, China has also been slow in extending help than Taiwan and Singapore. Wonder why is that?

Cash, food and supplies.   Individuals and civic organizations are also accepting donations and raising money to help.  As arrogant as some Americans can be, many still have a generosity of spirit.
