America is a great nation, one to have achieved superpower status that not even the British empire could boast of having achieved.  And to say that is exceptional is not unreasonable.  But, just as Alexis de Tocqueville commented, who originated this "exceptionalist" idea, America is a young nation, even up to now, compared to countries such as China, India, and even Japan, that have existed for ten, twenty, even thirty times as long.  And when you are young, you are entitled to be "exceptional" in some way.  As you get older, you tend to get less exceptional, and more like the dumb elders you have lived with growing up.

As any country that has been around for a thousand years can tell you.  There are limits to wealth.  There are limits to miitary power.

And there are also limits to exceptionalism.  And for this, there is no exception.

I am Australian and I do not like hearing the cult-like American citizens go on and on about how Americans are superior to the rest of us. I agree with China and Russia in that all nations and all people must be seen as equal and treated as equal.

Bollocks!
Da wogs start at Calais!

It's not hard to be "exceptional" when you steal a land of nearly 10 million square kilometers of prime
real estate from the native inhabitants.
Imagine what any group of thieves could do with such a huge piece of resource rich land protected
on both sides by two of the world's largest oceans and in a temperate climate to boot.
If all you wanted to do was exploit this prize as quickly as possible for all it's worth, well you've got
the USA. But in the history of mankind this is a flash in the pan and this easy success story is already in
jeopardy from greed and over exploitation by a foolish capitalist oligarchy. As with all capitalist societies
the master/slave dynamic is bound to bring about social upheaval and the information age is hastening
this in the USA. The only question is how much longer this capitalist phase will last before socialism and
eventually communism will bring the USA into the modern age of civilization.
Master/slave capitalist societies are no longer sustainable in the information age where people can no
longer be fooled on such a large scale.
If capitalism promotes innovation and creativity then why aren't scientists and artists the richest people in a capitalist nation?

Multipolar world good topic.

Nobody has any issue with multi polar world.

But multi polar world resulting in a perpetually divided UNSC  is sickening and in the words of Ban Ki Moon, very disappointing.
