The communication between the two heads of state without wearing ties will become an significant event in history.

The Annenberg estate informally referred to as "Camp David West," is located at Rancho Mirage, California, about 200 km from Los Angeles. It covers an area of about one square kilometer. It was constructed by the late U.S. publishing giant, philanthropist and diplomat Walter and Lenonore Annenberg in 1966. The Sunnylands has hosted seven U.S. presidents, British royalty and other world leaders throughout its storied history.

The Camp David, named after grandson of former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, is the preferred resort for U.S. presidents. Founded in 1938, the entire resort camp, with unique pastoral style, consists of several villages villas and more than 10 blocks of stone and wood country style bungalow.

From Sept 6 to 17, 1978, brokered by US President Jimmy Carter, Egyptian President Anwar el-Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin sign the Camp David Accords, laying the groundwork for a permanent peace agreement between Egypt and Israel after three decades of hostilities. The accords were negotiated during 12 days of intensive talks at President Jimmy Carter's Camp David retreat in the Catoctin Mountains of Maryland.

In 2000, US President Bill Clinton summoned the peace summit between Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak. On July 5, 2000, the Middle East Peace Summit took place at Camp David . Ultimately, it was an unsuccessful attempt to negotiate a "final status settlement" to the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.
