CHINA'S TIMELESS DEFENSE IS "THEY WOUDN'T DARE!"
WHICH WORKS LESS THAN HALF THE TIME.
EXPLAINING WHY CHINA, AFTER ACHIEVING SOME DEGREE OF POWER AND PROSPERITY, ALWAYS FALLS UNDER THE SWORD OF A BARBARIC INVADER, TIME AND AGAIN.
The reason for this kind of wishful thinking is because Chinese have a tendency to think in other people's shoes, but forget that other peoples are not as fearful and cowardly as the Chinese, in general, are.
Thus, the tendency to think others will not dare attack China, when in fact, they do dare to attack China. They did it at Canton in the First Opium War, at Tientsin in the Second Opium War, at the Yellow Sea in the First Sino-Japanese War, at Beijing in the Second Sino-Japanese War, and now, at Diaoyudao in the Third Sino-Japanese War.
The common feeling in China is that it is IMPOSSIBLE THAT CHINA WILL LOSE TO JAPAN AGAIN.
This is the reason why CHINA WILL LOSE TO JAPAN, because CHINA deludes itself that there is no power on earth strong enough to conquer the world's most populous country. Wrong! Japan was right in saying that if 7 million Manchus can rule over 700 million Chinese, there is no reason why a Japan that has conquered Manchuria, cannot also conquer the rest of China, and it almost did, were it not for Truman's gift to Hiroshima and Nagasaki that ended Japan's imperial dream.
