BEIJING - Premier Wen Jiabao said Monday the Diaoyu Islands are an inalienable part of China's territory and China will "absolutely make no concession" on issues concerning its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Despite repeated solemn representations of China, the Japanese government announced Monday it would "purchase" part of China's Diaoyu Islands from "private Japanese owners" and bring the islands under "state control."

Also Monday, Premier Wen pledged China won't back down on issues surrounding the Diaoyu Islands.

"The Diaoyu Islands are an inalienable part of China's territory, and the Chinese government and its people will absolutely make no concession on issues concerning its sovereignty and territorial integrity," Wen said while addressing an inauguration ceremony for a statue of late Chinese leaders Zhou Enlai and Chen Yi at the China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing.

China has repeatedly told Japan that it holds a firm stance that the Diaoyu Islands and adjacent islets have been an inalienable part of China's territory since ancient times, and that any of Japan's unilateral moves against Chinese nationals is illegal and invalid.

"The Chinese government and its people cherish their country's hard-won national sovereignty and dignity more than anybody," Wen told the students, noting that China has maintained such a firm and unyielding character even in situations of extreme hardship.

VLADIVOSTOK, Russia - Chinese President Hu Jintao met with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda on Sunday and made clear China's position on its relations with Japan and the Diaoyu Islands issue.

The two leaders met on the sidelines of the 20th informal economic leaders' meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

Hu seriously pointed out that China-Japan relations have recently faced a severe situation due to the Diaoyu Islands issue, saying China holds a consistent, clear stance on the issue.

Whatever ways the Japanese side uses to "purchase the islands" are illegal and invalid and China firmly opposes such moves, he said.

The Chinese government stands firm on the issue of safeguarding its territorial sovereignty, Hu said, adding Japan must fully recognize the gravity of the situation and should not make wrong decisions.

He urged Japan to work with the Chinese side to maintain the overall development of the two countries' relations.

slands dialogue needs further discussion: official

President Ma Ying-jeou has proposed a method for solving the Tiaoyutai Islands row through trilateral dialogue between Taiwan, mainland China and Japan, but details for carrying it out will need further discussion, an official of the Presidential Office was cited as saying yesterday.

Ma said he wouldn't recognize any purchase of the islands as a legitimate claim to ownership. He also said he has no plan to visit the Tiaoyutais to assert Taiwan's sovereignty claim.

Ma arrived on Pengjia by helicopter, along with several senior government officials and under escort by two Mirage fighter planes.

Three navy frigates also were in the area as Ma inspected a weather observation station, a coast guard post and a century-old lighthouse. Ma also held a video conference with coast guard officers on Taiping, the largest islet in the Spratly Islands, another hotly disputed group.

Definitely China need to invest more in military forces. China wouldn't defeat Japanese invasion without enough military forces.

Military power is the major factor whether we could defeat Japanese invasion or not.

In 1937, seldom of countries around the world helped China to fight against Japanese invasion. China was far poorer than Japan that time. China got huge amount of economic achievements that time. However, China still stood up and fought against Japanese invasion.

And China shouldn't fear war too if Japan agressively invaded China. China need to do enough military preparation to launch a war against Japan. Of course war would be the last resort.

China need to send a large amount of spies to Japan and need to do serious investigations.

Now, we know that Japan know China very well before Japan invaded China in the late 1890s. How can we defeat Japan in a war if we know Japan nothing.

U.S.A is a key to solve Diaoyu Island's conflict.

U.S.A greatly contributed to the present Diaoyu Island's conflict between China and Japan. It's U.S.A who transffered Diaoyu Island to Japan in the late 1960s when Communist and KMT were still fighting in the Civil war.

U.S.A still has the responsibility to protect Japan while Japan don't have a formal military force.

I think China could hold dialogues with U.S.A to solve Diaoyu's island's conflict.
