Jellied eels

Jellied eels, a traditional British snack. Over 14 million meals will be served during the Games to athletes and spectators, across 40 locations – the largest peace time catering operation in the world, the The London Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) has said.

Scotch eggs

Scotch Egg, a traditional British snack of a boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat. 1.2 million meals will be served to athletes, comprising 1300 different dishes.

Bangers and mash

Bangers and Mash, a traditional British meal of sausages and mashed potato in gravy. All food served to spectators and athletes will be sourced to high environmental, ethical and animal welfare standards, the LOCOG said.

Full English breakfast

A traditional full English breakfast of sausages, chips, baked beans, bacon, black pudding and toast is pictured at 'Enough To Feed an Elephant' cafe in London.

Roast beef and yorkshire pudding

A traditional British Sunday lunch of roast beef and yorkshire pudding from the Canteen restaurant in London. While food served will reflect a multicultural mix of flavours, the heritage of British recipes will also be celebrated.

A tray of traditional British meat pies from G. Kelly's pie and mash shop in east London. It is typically served as pie and mash in liquor.

Strawberries and cream

A bowl of strawberries and cream. The main dining room at the Olympics village seats over 5000 athletes and can fit the equivalent of 880 double decker buses.

Rhubarb and almond trifle

Rhubarb and almond trifle from Canteen restaurant in London. There will also be authentic Asian dishes, African Brai barbecues, Caribbean flavours, Mediterranean dishes and street foods from around the world.

Battenberg cake, a traditional British cake made of different coloured squares of sponge covered in marzipan.

Toad in the Hole

Toad in the Hole, a traditional British dish of sausages baked in batter. The Olympics organizing committee says food and drinks for a family of four will be available for under £40 ($64 Canadian)

Most of the athletes will be eating foods brought in from their own countries, just like they did in Beijing in 2008.

I agree with you, but for safety reasons the athletes will eat food prepared especially for them.
