Photo taken on March 15, 2012 shows visitors viewing the Buddhist pagodas, which have been protected by newly-built fences, in the famous Shaolin Temple in Dengfeng City, central China’s Henan Province. According to local tourism authorities on May 16, 2012, Shaolin has passed the reexamination by the country’s tourist watchdog and kept its rating as a five-A tourist site. A national committee on tourist site assessment at the end of last year issued a circular demanding that the temple overhaul its “chaotic operation” or forfeit its rating as a five-A tourist site. The circular said the temple had been overrun by vendors and rip-off businesses. Since then Shaolin has made a lot of effort to improve its management.
