What's reform?

This post was edited by 468259058 at 2012-3-27 06:41

To correct the existing malpractices for improvement.

From perspective of politics, it's a self-improvement inside of the present regime, not overthrowing the present regime through revolution. A successful reform can drive its country to stability while a failed reform can lead its country to civil war and internal conflicts.

Why did Mainland China begin to reform from the late 1970s?

This post was edited by 468259058 at 2012-3-27 20:52

Why did Deng Xiaoping, Ye Jianying, Chen Yun, Li Xiannian, etc, launch reform in the late 1970s?

Great Leap Forward, Culture Revolution, Class Struggle, etc, led mainland China into decades' catastrophe (十年浩劫).  After Deng visited Japan, Singapore, U.S.A, etc, he knew that mainland China lagged behind other countries too much. Our party and government need to modify those abuses and malpractices.

Do mainland China need to go on reforming?

This post was edited by 468259058 at 2012-3-27 20:53

I think Yes. Many abuses and malpractices still exist in our social and economic system, though things were improved a lot, though Mainland China made many achievements especially in the early 1980s and in the early 1990s. A long way is still waiting for us.

Reform urgently needed within western society.

They need to accept the reality of the rise of China and try to live peacefully with Chinese.

Yet they allocated budget to train provocators and send it to destabilise China.

It is sad if there are more people believe what you write.

It seems you need enemies.
You need hero and the bad guys.

there is nothing like "the West", there are many countries, quite diverse and colourful that your two colour mind cannot understand. do not feel endangered, I can tell you that most people abroad do not care much about China, considering it a nation where most people grow rice or work in factories.

Obama Says He’ll Nuke China If It Helps Him Get Elected August 1, 2007

Senator Barack Obama today said he’d nuke China if it would help him get elected. The hawkish statement was said in the aftermath of polls showing he has lost ground to Vice President Hillary Clinton after the recent YouTube debate that many pundits claimed demonstrated Clinton’s experience over Obama.

“If we have actionable intelligence suggesting that, say, China was prepared to launch a strike against Tawain, then, not only would I have to reconsider my former position vis a vis talking to hostile leadership, I would have to seriously consider the possibility of an all out nuclear strike,” Obama wrote in a long email to The Gore Years. “The American public should get what it wants, and any consequences derived from those desires should be born fully by the electorate.”
