Some of the "works" by Netizens.

One of the most well-known Chinese poets has shot into Internet stardom some 1,300 years after his birth.

Du Fu, dubbed the "Poet Sage" of the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD), has been "busy" for the post few days, as internet users went on a doodling frenzy on his portrait in a school textbook.

Thousands of web users have uploaded images of their take on Du, turning the poet into different characters ranging from a marksman to a young woman holding a doll.

While some consider these doodle pictures funny and even creative, others are dismayed by those "vicious and ignorant" doodling and the lack of respect towards one of China's most revered cultural symbols.

Is the doodling disrepectful? Or should we embrace it as there is no actual harm done?

If a prank like this one was played on one of your countries' most respected historical figures, would you accept it?

Some of the pictures are very good and creative. The one thing that I disagree with is that the students are doodling in their textbooks, they should be studying, hehe!
