The US never has Asian soap operas during prime time.
Do you think that it's because nobody can understand the language (yes, they could be dubbed as western ones are in China) or the significance of the stories? In this case, nobody, except maybe Chinese folks in the US, would watch those shows on TV, Chinese ones during primetime that is. It's funny how everyone, those of you who claim to be Chinese, think that China needs to have everything "equal" with everybody. China has a lot of growing up, and learning, to do about the real world and it's place in it. China is simply one nation, albeit a great one with a fair few people and forex reserves, but still only one amongst many. It might pay you folks to remember that. It deserves no more, or less than others but it needs to realise that it cannot automatically demand respect for it, and it's culture. This must be learned, then earned, but first, it has to be in demand! China's culture isn't in demand in the way that western culture is, in the PRC....it's that simple and it's not the wests fault. It's China's because obviously, there is some deficiency in the Chinese culture that Chinese folks find can be made up with western culture.
I don't say this to sound superior because I'm not. I say this because it's my observance after living in China for a number of years whereas you haven't.
