人山人海


东说西说
用“山”和“海”来形容人多,这是一个多么形象的比喻,可惜它还没能被广泛接受。这也难怪,外国人这么多年来对于相对封闭的中国的理解仅限于“地大物博”,却很少知道还有“人多”这一特色,即使知道,也只是限于书本上的那点数字,从来没有亲身体验过什么是真正的“人多”:“没有经历过“春运”,他们永远不知道什么叫做“人山”,没有体验过求职,他们也永远不知道什么叫做“人海”。

英语中关于人数多其实也有不少词汇,比如:
multitude
horde
swarm
crowd

该怎么说?

言归正传,“人山人海”用英文可以这么说:

a sea of faces

a large crowd of people

how about "eople mountain People sea", more use and more popular,  like "Long time no see."

I think native speakers can perfectly understand what "people mountain people sea" means now.
