The Silver Fox Cave, or Yinhu Cave, is widely known for its amazing fox-like stalactite, which is rare worldwide. Situated in Fozi Village, Fangshan District, this mysterious cave is about 60 km from Beijing. Characterized by a multi-layered cave of karst (eroded limestone) landscape and clear underground rivers, this large solution crevice group in north China is a wonder of nature. The winding cave is about 5,000 meters long, with a nearly 3,000-meter part open to tourists.
In the cave, there are rare stalactites, white stalagmites, grand stone pillars, glittering calcites, brilliant stone pearls and shining stone waterfalls. A remarkable amount of various stone flowers are also scattered through the cave.
The cave is named for an astonishing two-meter white stalactite that resembles an overhanging silver fox with a cat's head and looks like a splendid jade carving. A national treasure in China, this marvelous and wonderful stalactite is the first of its kind found in the world.
The meandering underground rivers penetrate as deep as 106 meters in some places. Tourists can boat on the clear and winding waters and it is said that the water in the stream contains a naturally high ratio of trace elements that are said to have many benefits for humans.
A simple tramcar inside the cave may be taken instead of walking, and the waterway adventure games make the trip even more interesting. About 2,000 meters inside the cave is Beijing's first underground music bar inside a karst cave, which offers a pleasant place for tourists to rest.
