some forumites may break lines many times and believe us, we have made efforts to behave them and the final result we have been trying is to make everyone to speak up freely and don't hurt others. We don't want to ban or mute members randomly and simply. Sometimes we indeed hate some different voices and wanna ban them once for all.
Dear mods, under this aspect, I don't understand you. For the following reason:
It's not the question of silencing some unpleasant voices. This would really be censorship, which I completely oppose.
But it's about maintaining a certain level of decency. And this is also what the rules are made for. Gross words, insults concerning somebody's provenience, cultural heritage, sex, colour, religion etc. are condemned by the rules, and making people stop talking such things is in no way related with "freedom of speech". Freedom ends where another person's freedom or integrity is affected.
And if somebody uses such words repeatedly, despite frequent warnings, then I don't understand why one can't ban him/her. In any case, this has nothing to do with "randomly and simply".
So far, I can remember only 2 persons who have been banned. But there are many other ones who are using the same vocabulary and showing the same behaviour, if not worse. But strange enough, nothing is happening to them.
Finally, I want to point out: It might be hard to check all posts (although I wonder if a forum that is a kind of international showcase should not spend a little more money and keep the overview). But some users are well-known for their vulgarity or their repeated posting of disparaging contents. And I really wonder why one can't have an eye on them...
