Population of New York: 9 million in 2009
Affordable Housing in New York: 1.5 million.

1.5 * 2 people/each apartment = 3 million

3 million/9 million = 1/3

In cities and towns:

Chinese leaders portrayed beautiful pictures at the beginning of housing reform in the late 1990s. They said a large amount of ordinary Chinese would still live in public housing - "Jing Ji Shi Yong Fang".

Today only a small number of public housing remained as the living shelter of the high-ranking government officials and high-ranking CPC members. Most of Chinese city dwellers are living in private housing.

After the housing reform, a large amount of Chinese did make great fortune in the privatization of public housing as well as the privatization of local government-own companies and organizations. But most of young Chinese are forced to buy apartments at sky high price in housing market. They would not enjoy many basic government services -Independent Hu Kou - if they didn't buy one.

Is China a socialist country? Is U.S.A a capitalist country? It puzzled me.

How can we support the housing reform, the health care reform, the education reform, the retirement pension reform, and other social welfare reform started from the late 1990s?

Before the reform, full of beautiful words were in leaders' speech. However, after the reform, government officials always got the largest benefits from the privatization of government-own assets. Some of ordinary Chinese also made big fortune from the privatization. But a large amount of ordinary Chinese suffer.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++
The reform started from 1978 made the living of almost all of ordinary Chinese better than before.
The reform started from the late 1990s brought huge fortune to Government officials and CPC members in Commission.

not me.
ruthlessly screwing over the people, abusing and milking it for the benefit of those in power and their peers is a key feature of the real exisiting socialism and any attempt to constitute socialsim leads to that result.
public and social services in the US and the even further advanced ones throughout productive parts of europe ultimatly come up with capitalism advancing.
