I didn't know who were the former presidents of China (PRC) until I read a list just now.

In my memory, there weren't exact years and the names of presidents of PRC from textbooks.

The list is:

1954~1954 Mao Zedong
1954~1965 Liu Shaoqing
(Interruption after the president, Liu Shaoqing, died in political fights)
1983~1988 Li Xiannian
1988~1993 Yang Shangkun
1993~2003 Jiang Ze-min
2003~present Hu Jin-tao

Sorry, it was a wrong list in #1 post.

The right one has 2 versions from government websites:

1949~1959 Mao Zedong
1959~1966 Liu Shaoqing
(Interruption after the president, Liu Shaoqing, died in political fights)
1983~1988 Li Xiannian
1988~1993 Yang Shangkun
1993~2003 Jiang Ze-min
2003~present Hu Jin-tao

source: h ttp://w ww.gov.cn/test/2007-11/12/content_802099.htm

But in some other websites, the list is:

1954~1959 Mao Zedong
1959~1966 Liu Shaoqing
(Interruption after the president, Liu Shaoqing, died in political fights)
1983~1988 Li Xiannian
1988~1993 Yang Shangkun
1993~2003 Jiang Ze-min
2003~present Hu Jin-tao

President Jiang of CCP is the most handsome!

That's when mainland China got it's biggest growth spurt!

The most critical President is President Sun Yat Sen, otherwise China would still be a Monarchy!
The most battle savvy President is President Mao Tze Tung!

The most "Teruk President" is President Chen Shui Bian of Chinese Taipei, and President Yuan Shi Kai of Chinese Republic!

Cheerios!
