umm, you do realize, both North Korea and South Korea regularly cut off trade with each other, why blame one side? |
And for forty years, China had a total ban on all trade with South Korea, much more strict than anything the US implemented against North Korea, yet South Korea prospered. And how can sanctions be "illegal" or "criminal?" Countries are free to trade with whoever they like.
South Korea opened a large joint economic zone. It's North Korea that fails to open rail links to the South. What do South Koreans or America have to lose with trade with North Korea? South Korea would love the North to open up, the northerners would see how desperately poor, starving and hopeless their situation is. North Korea intentionally cuts itself off from foreign trade. The leadership of North Korea can only lose by opening up to foreign trade.
Why do you think the North Koreans protest when the south sends balloons with US dollars and information pamphlets over the border? South Koreans would laugh at such a thing. North Korea cannot open up, because it would fall apart. That's why even when South Korea tried total engagement, with the sunshine policy, North Korea dragged its feet.
SANCTIONS AGAINST IRAQ
China also voted for the Sanctions against North Korea after they tested Nuclear weapons. China voted for all the sanctions against Iraq, why? Because Iraq had previously gassed tens of thousands of civilians, intentionally killing them. Moral people of the entire world must oppose such things. So why do you foolishly now blame "The West" for sanctions which China, Russia, Botswana and Indonesia helped draft and voted for!!
