Self important .

It is the measure of the western supremacist attitude and thinking that they feel this will be a " blow " to the Chinese . No sir , it is NOT . Farrow and Spielberg are just two laowais to the Chinese . Some Chinese may have heard of them , most don't recognize them from a bar of soap !

It is that old time colonial mentality that if the whites pull out or do not " help " the Chinese will not know what to do . Well buddy baby , they do , and they will do much better without your " help ".

To blame China in the Security Council for flagging that they will be against sanctions if this is proposed for a vote is correct . NO trade sanctions have ever worked . China has never vetoed UN intervention into Darfur . The rest of the warmongering powers chose to sit on their hands for decades and now try to sheath the whole blame onto Johnny-come-lately China .  No can do .

I hope Richard Gere would stroke his " conscience " and declare himself persona non grata as well . Here's hoping .

Exit Spielberg, stage left

Mr. Spielberg is not the first, and will not be the last one, to try to make China responsible for the Darfur crisis. The ones who orchestrate this miserable farce don’t want to accept China’s incredible success and try to mislead the public with the power of their propaganda machine, in which Mr. Spielberg is but one tool. I think he is not well informed about China’s policies not only in Darfur (see China's decisive role in the Six Party Talks), otherwise he wouldn't have taken this step which is more embarrassing for him than for China.

How exactly has China been successful in handling the crisis? People are still being murdered and being driven out of their homes. China didn't cause the conflict, but it has failed to resolve it despite saying it would take action.

otherwise he wouldn't have taken this step which is more embarrassing for him than for China.

How is it embarrassing for him? It is clearly embarrassing for China, otherwise it wouldn't have felt the need to respond as it did.

By your logic, China also responsible for increasing oil prices, increasing trade surplus against US, the fall of US dollar, the sale of AK-47 in the US, the fall of shoes price in Italy etc etc.

Those kind of ridiculous political blackmail won't stop. The supremacists simply want to use Olympics to press China, funfilling their agenda.

using the term "white supremacist" seems fairly inappropriate here, since:

(1) spielberg is jewish, and white supremacism is primarily anti-semitic
(2) the whole agenda is (whether only superficially or not) to aid the people of darfur, the vast majority of whom are not white
(3) the USA today is a more ethnically-integrated country than china is. the US and the other Western multi-cultural countries have severe problems, but still have more of an equitable ethnic mix (in income, employment, education, etc.) than china does.

i'm not making any criticisms of china here, or any defence of spielberg's actions - just saying that "white supremacists" seems misapplied. "imperialists", "western imperialists" would probably be better, i think.

How is Britain handling the crisis?

They were the ones that caused it in the first place!

You're right!

Maybe we should use this to boycott London Olympics too?
